RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Central
2. Cooking equipment and
setup will be allowed on the contest site after 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 24,
2008. Only cooking equipment and two (2) vehicles will be allowed inside the
gates for setup with convenient parking space for other team members. Only ONE vehicle may remain inside your
cooking area. Tents and motor homes are allowed on the cooking site. Cook Teams enter grounds on Riverside Drive.
3. Contestants’ must be
in place no later 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008.
4. Parking in designated
areas only; illegally parked vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense.
5. A Cook-off Team
consists of a Chief Cook and four (4) assistants. Chief Cook and four (4)
assistants must be same as listed on application at time of check-in and shall
not be changed without approval of cook-off committee. Cook Team (limit 5 team
members) will be admitted to grounds at no charge. Wristband will be provided
for Cook Team members. Grounds admission for other
members in group $5.00 each; ages 10 and under free.
6. The Chief Cook will
be held responsible for the conduct of his team and guests. EXCESSIVE USE OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WILL BE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION AND REMOVAL.
7. Type of cooking
device is not restricted. All fires must be wood or wood substance. No electric
or gas fires will be allowed. No open fire, holes or dug pits will be allowed.
8. Kerr
County Fair Association shall not be responsible for accidents, theft or damage
to equipment.
9. Judging will be divided
into five (5) categories: SALSA – PINTO BEANS – CHICKEN – PORK RIBS – BEEF
BRISKET. Judging as follows:
Salsa -11:00 a.m.; Pinto Beans – 12:00
noon; Chicken – 1:00 p.m.; Pork Ribs - 2:00 p.m., Beef Brisket – 3:00 p.m. Awards are scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
10. All measures will be
taken that judges will not know contestant entry being judged.
11. Precooked entries
shall not be allowed. A contest committeeman will inspect all entries. You may start your contest meat after it has
been inspected. The source of your perishable foods will be required.
12. Each Cook-off Team
shall be responsible for cleanup within their assigned space.
13. Kerr County Fair
Association will provide space ONLY.
Contestants must supply ALL needed equipment and supplies. Props,
trailers, motor homes, vehicles, generators, tents, coverings or any other part
of a contestants’ or teams’ equipment must not exceed the boundaries of the
assigned space. No electricity will be
supplied.
14. Bagged ice will be
available and may be purchased on site.
15. All Showmanship
contestants’ must register with the Cook-off Chairman no later than 9:00 a.m.,
Saturday, October 25th .
16. Showmanship will be
judged between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
17. Cook-off chairman
and committee reserve the right to make additional rules and regulations as
situations warrant. Decisions of Cook-off chairman and committee are final.
18. Cooks’ Party,
Friday, October 24, 2008 @ 7:00 p.m., Cook Teams and guests invited.
