RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1. Exhibitors, entries and awards shall comply with general Fair rules and the following specific rules.  Interpretations and applications will be made by the Jackpot Show Committee and/or the Fair Executive Board.

 

2. The entrant shall be a member in good standing of a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter and under the supervision of an Agriculture Science Teacher, or County Extension Agent and currently enrolled in K through 12th grades in a public, private or accredited home school.

 

3. ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE OWNED BY EXHIBITOR.  All exhibits must be an actual part of the exhibitor’s current project, under his or her individual management and/or regular care.  All projects will be subject to inspection by the Jackpot Show Committee at any time during the duration of the project. All exhibitors must comply with the general rules of the Kerr County Fair Association.

 

4.  Any exhibitor, parent or guardian of exhibitor, agriculture science teacher, 4-H leader or county agent who knowingly violates or condones the violation of any rule or rules shall be subject to immediate discipline and possible removal form the show.

 

5.  No overnight camping allowed on the Fairground, except with special written permission from the Kerr County Fair Association.

 

6.  NO HEALTH CERTICATES REQUIRED.  According to Texas Animal Health Commission publication 91-34 dated February 25, 1991, rule 5.D.2, livestock and poultry originating in Texas and entering all other shows, fair, exhibitions (i.e. county & local shows) are exempt from entry permit, certificate of veterinary inspection and testing requirements.

 

7. No animal of any kind will leave the Fairgrounds from check in until check out unless required by Jackpot Show Committee or Kerr County Fair Association. 

 

8. STALLING AND CARING FOR EXHIBITS.  Superintendents will stall all animals in a group. Exhibitors will bed, feed, keep exhibit clean and cared for throughout the Fair.

 

9. SHOWING: Failure to appear in the arena to show as number is called automatically eliminates participant.

 

10. Kerr County Fair Association will not be responsible for accidents, theft or any other loss.

DIVISION  1:   STEERS

ENTRY FEE:  $15.00 (cash only)

Showmanship - $5.00 (cash only)

 

1. Animals must enter at service entrance gate on Riverside Drive. Begin arriving at 12:00 noon., Saturday, October 25, 2008. Entry fees and weigh-in cards must be turned in by 1:00 p.m.. Enter at show, no pre-entries.

 

2. Parking in designated areas only, illegally parked vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense. Exhibitor and parents admitted at no charge.  All others pay general admission fee, no exceptions.

 

3. Showmanship begins at 1:30 p.m. Showman fee paid at gate - $5.00 (cash only). Show immediately following. 

 

5. There will be a 40 lb weight back on all 1st and 2nd place animals.

 

6. Dressing is not allowed.  Steers will be shown with artificial hair, no adhesives, BLOW & SHOW.  No clipping on grounds.

 

7. Classes will be split in the three breed divisions; American, British and European.  Weight classes will be determined by number of entries.

 

8. Animals will show by breed. Show order is as follows: American, British, European.  Final classification will be at the discretion of the judge. 

 

9. Judges decisions are final.

5. Wether and ewe lambs only are eligible to show.  Shearing of lambs optional.  No artificial grooming.

 

6. Animals will be show by breed. Show order is as follows: South Down, Fine Wool, Fine Wool Cross, Medium Wool.  Final classification will be at the discretion of the judge. 

 

7. Judges decisions are final.

1. Animals must enter at service entrance gate on Riverside Drive. Begin arriving at 6:30 a.m., Sunday, October 26, 2008. Entry fee and weigh-in cards must be turned in by 9:00 a.m. (scales will be available). Enter at show, no pre-entries.

 

2. Parking in designated area only, illegally parked vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense.  Exhibitor and parents admitted at no charge. All others pay general admission.

 

3. Showmanship will begin at 9:30 a.m. Showman fee paid at gate - $5.00 (cash only). Show will start at 10:30 or immediately following the Showmanship show.

 

4. No minimum weight, maximum weight 175 pounds for Barrows and Gilts. Absolutely, “NO BOARS”.  There will be a 10-pound (+or-) weigh back on all 1st and 2nd placing animals.  (Example: if your animal weighs in at 100 pounds, it can weight between 90 and 110 pounds at weigh back.)

 

5. No grooming aids other than water, clipping is optional but recommended. No clipping in the barn. Be prepared to double up in your pen.  Kerr County Fair is not responsible for dividers. (If your animal can’t be with another, BRING A DIVIDER).  Shavings are not furnished, bring your own.

 

6. Show order is as follows:  Durocs, Hamps, Black OPB’s, White OPB’s, Yorks, and Crosses.  We will show, gilts against gilts and barrows against barrows, with Champion and Reserve Champion Gilt and Barrow chosen.  Then Champion and Reserve Champion of the breed will be chosen for the Grand Drive.  This is being done to speed up the show.

 

7. Judges decision is final in all cases.
